"mommy!"

Morning all. I've been working far too much - in the last few weeks, my teeny baby daughter has become a virtual stranger. When she's in distress - she's taken to calling out for 'Daddy!', something none of the last 4 kids have ever done. This is new to me, and I almost die a little each time I hear it. Because in the last few weeks, she's replaced me - her rock & never-going-anywhere Mommy, with Daddy, whose been around more. It absolutely bites.
I was with her in the shower the other day - something she loathes, (she can't stand the water getting in her eye and is constantly wiping her face) well she had also just woken up, & I asked my husband to grab her so I could bathe her while I was in the shower. As soon as her feet hit the tile her wails were bouncing off the walls, her cries of "DADDY!!" reached a serious fever pitch that caused my husband to walk back with a sad "awww baby. I'm sorry". And I was right there, trying to calm her - but to no avail. She wanted, needed and had to have Daddy. Mommy has been gone too much, and hasn't been there for almost every second of her days - which I'm about to change. No more working, no more anything, and when things are back to normal, I'll be sure and let you know. :)

Found you through FF and I am glad that I did. I have a 2yo that just picked Daddy over me. It stings, bad!

I did not have the picking the daddy over me part, I had the "grandma I want you" part. When my daughter was small I was working three jiobs and going to school. One full time, one teaching part time in the evenings and one waitressing on Friday and Saturday nights. When I was home with her she would say I want grandma. When it was time for me to go to work on Saturdays she wouls cry and hold my leg and my mom would pick her up. The way she held on to my mom made me feel like an absolute bad mom for leaving her and having her get attached to someone else other than me. Needless to say, I quite the two part time jobs and two years later I took two years off from school! The things we mothers go through!

oh, wow!! I could just a hear a heart breaking in this post.

I am sure Mommy will be the go-to as you are home more.

What a wonderful thing though, that she has such a good relationship with dear old Daddy.

I found you via FF and am following.

That is hard to take. I'm sure it will change though. Usually does.

I'm sure this makes you sad but she'll probably come back to you. They flip-flop at this age.

I know it's tough...my 3 year old calms right down for daddy and daddy is the total preference right now. I give it a bit longer....at least until the next boo boo and he'll love me again :O) Take care, your little one still loves ya!
